About Us

CallBack theatre was founded in 2001 by Cora Fenton and John Sheehy.  Since its inception, CallBack has produced and toured all around the country at various festivals and venues with a number of plays.

CallBack is now primarily focusing on producing & touring new work written by John Sheehy.

John’s first play was Set in Stone

John’s second play was Fred & Alice

John’s third play was Men Without Souls.

John’s fourth play was The Hole

Men Without Souls premiered in Friars’ Gate Theatre, Kilmallock, Co. Limerick and was funded by Limerick City of Culture and Ballyhoura development. The Hole premiered for Bewley’s lunchtime theatre in Spring 2015 followed by a 7 week tour.

CallBack theatre’s next production will be a new One woman show written by John Sheehy and performed by Cora Fenton.  It will go into production in 2017.

CallBack theatre also tours with a children’s Fun Educational Puppet Show:
Dorothy DoLittle’s Magical AdventureA puppet show on Healthy Eating and Physical Exercise.  With over 200 shows to date this show has already been seen by over 2000 children.

John Sheehy

John works extensively as a writer and director. John is co-founder of CallBack theatre. CallBack has toured all around the country for the last 13 years to numerous festivals and venues with a number of plays and is now primarily focusing on producing new work written by John.John’s first play, Set in Stone premiered in 2010 to critical acclaim, sold out and was revived in 2011. It was described as:

John’s second writing credit is Fred & AliceIt had over 80 performances in 2013, and was awarded a 7 week Touring and Dissemination Grant by the Arts Council which ran between March and May 2014.  Further touring is planned for Fred & Alice.

CallBack produced John’s third play Men Without Souls which was awarded funding by Limerick City of Culture and Ballyhoura Development and premiered in Friars’ Gate Theatre in October 2014. Read more

Based on his writing to date, John was awarded Artist in Residence at Friars’ Gate Theatre 2013/2014 by the Arts Council and the play he wrote for this residency was The Hole which went into production in Spring 2015 for a 7 week tour.

John was awarded a second year as Artist in Residence and the play he wrote for this residency was Dog Shit City.

John is developing a new play Sonia for CallBack which will go into production in 2019.

Directorial credits include Set in Stone, Fred & Alice, Bonfire Night and Arsehammers by Claire Dowie, Say Cheese and 44 Sycamore by Bernard Farrell, Twinkletoes by Jennifer Johnston which featured at the Leeds Millennium Festival, Lovely Hurling, winner of the Cork Arts Theatre New Writers Competition.

Cora Fenton

Cora is co-founder of CallBack theatre, and works as producer and actor for CallBack. Cora organises and manages CallBack’s productions and tours.

Cora is about to go into a new tour of Fred & Alice and has most recently being touring Arsehammers and Bonfire Night by Claire Dowie, highlights including performing at the Oran Mor Glasgow and the Comann na Mara Festival in North Uist – the Outer Hebrides!

Other recent theatre work includes: Playhouse Creatures for Empire Line Productions at the Cork Arts Theatre and 2 tours of Graffiti Theatre Company’s After Dark in 2015, CallBack’s Set in Stone and Men Without Souls written by John Sheehy  (which she also produced), Graffiti’s Where In The World Is Frank Sparrow, Blue Raincoat’s production of EndGame at the Happy Days Enniskillen International Beckett Festival and playing the title role in Mary Motorhead written by Mark O’Halloran which premiered in Dublin before going on tour and which also won Best Irish Dramatisation at the PPI National Radio Awards in 2013.

Cora also preformed in Graffiti’s Where In The World Is Frank Sparrow which ran at the Cork Opera House Half Moon Theatre, a nationwide tour of The Irish Canon (Abridged), The 3 Fat Women of Antibes (Kinsale Arts Festival), Lovers (Everyman Palace Theatre, Cork). Cora wrote and tours with Dorothy DoLittle’s Magical Adventure, a hugely successful fun educational puppet show for children.

Film/TV credits include: Dead Along The Way for Burnt Ice and Orion, Most of the Time for Claddagh Films, Pat for Fawn Films, Loving Miss Hatto (BBC), Choosing Signs (Owen Dara), Strength and Honour (Maron Pictures), The Paper Child.

Cora has also produced, toured and collaborated on non CallBack theatre productions and events. Cora has a degree in Sport Science and a Masters degree in Computer Science.

Among other projects, Cora will be acting in and co-producing CallBack theatre’s next production Sonia, a new play written by John Sheehy.  Premiere: JUNE 2019
